We are an open infrastructure aimed at supporting the creation and development of health technologies. We promote and provide multidisciplinary services, training, and updates on the processes of creation, certification, and development of medical devices. We also advance initiatives in scientific dissemination and communication, information dissemination, and the spread of knowledge and scientific and technological culture.
HISTORY OF THE ACTIVITY
The foundation
In the memorandum of understanding signed on July 14, 2022, between Sapienza University of Rome and Confindustria Medical Devices – the federation that unites, represents, and enhances companies operating in Italy in the medical devices sector – the groundwork was laid for the establishment of Med Device Lab.
The main objective from the outset has been to create an innovative and open entity capable of providing services, training, and research to support the development, certification, and lifecycle management of health technologies, from professionals to patients.
Furthermore, we are committed to bringing medical device funding back to Italy through the establishment of procedures that are simple, efficient, and with reasonable timelines and costs, to serve businesses.

A pathway to the success of medical devices
Our commitment is to support startups and innovative SMEs at every stage of their journey, from initial research to full commercialization of the medical device.
By participating in our project, you will gain access to a pathway focused on regulatory aspects concerning the entry of a medical device into the market and access to credits and funding. We aim to actively select and support promising startups and SMEs, guiding them through the entire certification process of the technology they are developing.
